EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

NCGR is currently seeking candidates for the following positions:

WHY NCGR?

NCGR is a nonprofit research institute working at interfaces in bioscience, computing & mathematics. We aim to translate large-scale collaborative research into improvements in infectious disease, global health, and nutrition. NCGR needs creative, collaborative people to meet the challenges of the "industrial" or systems biology data being produced in the post-genomic era. NCGR is unique for its commitment to providing professionally engineered software and resources for the global research community.

WORKING AT NCGR

What is it like to work at NCGR?

Our work depends on collaborations between scientists and engineers. Computational biologists, population geneticists, and mathematicians are developing and using novel algorithms and statistical approaches to model complex biological systems. Software engineers and developers at NCGR are experienced at creating bioinformatics platforms, incorporating automated annotation and visualization tools, for genome mapping and pathway analysis based on data obtained from high-throughput biotechnologies.

Today's large scale biological programs must embrace a "sum is greater than the parts" mentality. As a result, NCGR employees work with a wide range of researchers, including molecular biologists, medical doctors, and plant biologists. As an employee, you may participate in partnerships with outside institutions, including universities, government agencies, biotech companies and private foundations.

We have a very casual, friendly environment - you'll rarely see suits around here - and we genuinely respect and enjoy working with one another. We are driven by achieving meaningful results, producing professional grade resources, and meeting commitments to our clients. And we know how to have fun, both in our daily interactions and at our office celebrations or informal get-togethers.

LIVING IN SANTA FE

Santa Fe, the capital of New Mexico, is part of America's great Southwest. One of the oldest cities in the United States, Santa Fe has a rich history and culture that encompasses Native American, Hispanic, and Anglo influences. Over the centuries, many newcomers have been drawn to Santa Fe's special setting -- perched at 7,000 feet in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the southernmost range of the Rockies. Today about 65,000 people live in Santa Fe.

Known as the City Different, Santa Fe boasts a quality of life unparalleled in the United States. You won't find overwhelming traffic jams, smog, humidity, or flat horizons here. In Santa Fe, you'll enjoy small-town commuting ease, nearly constant sunshine, dry mountain air, and all the diversions and benefits that an alpine setting provides.

Santa Fe has a thriving scientific and technical community, anchored by the national laboratories in New Mexico. In fact, the March 2004 issue of Business 2.0 named Santa Fe a "Boom Village" — a place where "life comes at a slower pace — but economic engines are revving."
